Quality Paint Finishes in Redcliffe, Brisbane North and Caboolture areas

1. What is the QBCC Home Warranty Insurance?

The Home Warranty Insurance provided by the QBCC is compulsory for any residential painting work done above the value of $3,300 incl. Gst. It also applies to Body Corporate Work and Duplexes no more than three stories high. It provides customers with additional security in case the work needs rectification. We as contractors have to add the premium to our quotation, collect the premiums, submit the details to the QBCC to arrange cover, and pay for it. The premiums are on a sliding scale, and reviewed and updated on a regular basis.

Here some examples (current since August 2019):

Total value up to (incl. GST):

$  3,300: $206.95

$  5,000: $218.95

$10,000: $254.15

$15,000: $289.25

$20,000: $324.50

You can also contact the QBCC on 139 133 or at for more information.

2. How long are your quotes valid for?

The quotations provided by KC Painters & Decorators are valid for 6 months from the date of issue.

3. Do you quote off plans?

KC Painters & Decorators specialise in the re-paint of existing buildings, we do, however, quote for new buildings or extensions, where the new work can be inspected prior to quoting.

4. How important is the quality of the paint?

The quality of the paint products used is extremely important. Using a cheap paint not only will often fail to give you the desired finish, many times it requires more coats and with that more labour, which would make the job more expensive, as the costs for materials are only between 10-15% of a job, the rest is labour costs. Also, many low quality paints tend to break down faster and more easily, and may not be as resistant to adverse conditions as higher quality products are. We at KC Painters & Decorators only use high quality paints and premium products, including but not limited to Haymes Paints, Taubmans, Wattyl and Dulux.

5. How can keep painting costs down without compromising on the quality?

First of all, don't wait until the paint breaks down. If the old paint is already breaking down and needs to be removed, this can make a paint job so much more expensive.

Secondly, if your property is not furnished, this will make it easier for us to move around, to have a smooth workflow without having to maneuver around furniture.

If you are living in the property while we are painting it, there are still things you can do to lessen our workload and keep the costs down. You can remove all items form shelving that needs to be removed, take paintings down, empty built-in cupboards out that need painting. In short, whatever we don't need to do, you don't have to pay for. But please do not try to do any preparation work, as this is a tradesman's job and needs to be done professionally, and if not done to standards will cause more work and costs than necessary. If you have got any questions, please give us a call. We are always happy to answer your questions.

6. How much does it cost to paint the exterior of a house in the Brisbane area?

The costs of painting a house depend on many factors. They depend on the size of the house, how many stories, the materials of the house built, the age and condition of the existing paint job, the style of the house (lace wood work, french doors and windows etc.). These aspects also determine which other tools like scaffolding, scissor lift, cherry pickers and/or, safety railings have to be used and how much preparation work is involved. Preparation is the key to high quality finish, and accounts for much of our work. It is impossible to give a clear answer here without a property to inspect. For a valid quotation, please contact us on 0432 413 004.

We are an Australian owned and run business, fully licensed and insured.
